The Downriver Area starts at Junction City on the East and follows the Highway 299 along the Trinity River to Salyer on the West, where Trinity meets the Humboldt County line. Several small communities with various services dot the Highway; each with their own piece of history and appeal. Junction City is another great access point to the Trinity Alps through the Canyon Creek trailhead, and the town has a small store and a cafe as well as great river access and RV Camping. Big Flat has undergone a bit of a rejuvenation, travelers and locals alike can appreciate great coffee and food at the Strawhouse. It's a perfect place to stop to appreciate the entirety of the natural beauty this Highway passes through in along this stretch of the river.
A beautiful shot of the Trinity River!
